ULMA drainage channels at the Hotel Vela in Hotel
The “W Barcelona” hotel, also known as the Hotel Vela (Sail Hotel) on account of its sail shape, was built in 2009 by architect Ricardo Bofill. The 5 star hotel is in a prime location to the south of the port of Barcelona, close to the city centre and has excellent views over the seafront. It has 473 rooms distributed over 26 floors and its silver glass façade is 100m high, and was initially planned to be 168m high.
The range used was the F range of drainage channels, specifically channel F250K with a 2.5% slope and ribbed cast grating.
Exclusive solution
Our 2.5% slope drainage solution is the only system on the market with an actual 2.5% slope. Its pronounced incline increases water flow rates, maximising the channel's hydraulic capacity and thereby facilitating self-cleaning, subsequently reducing maintenance costs for municipal services.
What's more, the channel has been designed for areas with heavy traffic and the grating is attached to the channel using 4 screws per grating.
