Restoration of the Santander city centre with ULMA drainage
ULMA drainage channels were installed in the restoration of the historic and commercial centre of the Cantabrian capital. It consists of a work in the commercial area of Santander, as part of a major restoration and adaptation project for the semi-pedestrian areas of the city centre. This project includes three projects (Calle de la Lealtad, Calle de Cadiz, and Calle de Rubio), all of them very close to the City Hall and the Alfonso XIII Park, where the emblematic Centro Botín building is located.
The MUTILV + 100 drainage system, ideal for pedestrian and commercial areas, was also installed. The channels also have an optimised V-section for greater hydraulic efficiency.
As for the grid, the side groove (asymmetrical), suitable for load class D400, was selected, taking into account that it is a semi-pedestrian area with access to light and medium-load vehicles (loading-unloading areas). When choosing this type of grid, an ideal solution was provided to this paved area, comprising a discreet and aesthetically pleasing option, without neglecting the drainage capacity. In total, roughly 1000 linear metres of drains have been installed.
ULMA Architectural Solutions has optimised the solution for the concrete drainage needs of the area of action (based on hydraulic calculations) and the improvement of the lower sanitation network (collector), offering a competitive system and optimising hydraulic efficiency with respect to the requirements established in the project.
