ULMA VENTILATED FAÇADE IN HOTEL LADERA IN SANTIAGO, CHILE

The new Hotel Ladera, located in Santiago, Chile, has created an innovative façade with an avant-garde design. Part of this design is composed of the ULMA ventilated façade, adding a slaty look to the building in one of its areas. The earth texture in dark colour was chosen to achieve the stony aspect that was required.

This façade system provides greater technical and aesthetic durability and protects against moisture and external temperature changes, offering energy savings and creating a healthier environment for the end user.

This project is an example of how the combinations of various materials and formats, along with the possibilities offered by the ULMA ventilated façade, can have impressive results, also allowing the freedom of creation of the architects.

This work by Estudio Larraín Arquitectos has received the 2017 Prix Versailles for the best façade, awarded by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco). According to the architects Rodrigo Larraín Gálvez and Rodrigo Larraín Illanes, their design represents nature, earth, and water.
