As part of the project to distribute the technical design of its products, ULMA Packaging realised it had to switch from a local network multi-user CAD system to having to perform common design projects, with cross-disciplinary teams of technicians working together from different points around the globe.

The project became more complicated when they realised that, outside the corporate local network, the bandwidth necessary to work easily from different, far-flung geographic locations, made the use of this solution unfeasible in certain locations

The article discusses the successful solution that ULMA Packaging found for the acceleration and compression of network traffic using the Steelhead range of accelerators by Riverbed.
