Rio de Janeiro International Airport to use ULMA’s baggage handling system
The scheme forms part of an ambitious refurbishment plan to cater for the high passenger demand expected as a result of the 2016 Summer Olympics.
The system installed by ULMA will include 62 check-in desks, 2 new multi-level inspection circuits and a high-speed sorting line to convey the baggage to one of the 8 sorting carousels, depending on its destination.
ULMA will also develop the SAC baggage allocation management system and the SCADA system enabling the monitoring of the entire installation.
The project will allow Rio de Janeiro International Airport to increase its logistics capacity by 3,000 bags per hour, and it is due for completion in April 2016.
This project is clearly an important milestone for ULMA Handling Systems, giving it access to the upscale airport market.
