ULMA Handling Systems to implement the baggage handling system at Salvador de Bahia Airport (Brazil)
ULMA Handling Systems to implement a complete baggage handling system at Salvador de Bahia Airport in Brazil. This is one of the leading Infraero Airports and serves over 10 million passengers a year following the privatization last year of the Guaralhos, Viracopos and Brasilia Airports and the planned privatization this year of Rio de Janeiro and Cofins (Belo Horizonte).
The project is in the framework of the master plan for the Airport, whose aim is to focus on meeting safety requirements and servicing the operations necessary for one of the host cities for the summer 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Developing this project is a remarkable milestone in the history of ULMA Handling Systems as this is the first Baggage Handling project undertaken by ULMA in Brazil.
The project involves a departures system with 72 check-in desks, 4 inspection lines and 4 training areas. The arrivals system comprises 7 baggage claim areas with their respective supply lines.
The new system is planned to be fully operational by early 2014 and will be able to process and inspect 4,800 pieces of baggage/hour.
