ULMA Piping collaborates with a prestigious us engineering firm on the KARAN K-45 project

Apr 02, 2014
Ulma Piping is collaborating with Weld Overly, a prestigious US Engineering firm based in the Emirates, on the design and development of 38” flanges for the Aramco Karan K45 project.

The Karan gas deposit is offshore in the Persian Gulf in Saudi Arabian waters, at depths ranging from 40m (131ft) to 60m (197ft).

The field was discovered in April 2006 and gas production began in July 2011.

This marked completion of phase one of the field development, which is estimated to cost $4.5 billion.

The Karan 45 project involves manufacturing a new oil rig, an auxiliary rig and connection bridge, together with installation of a 20 inch underwater flow line.

A 110 kilometre (68.3 mile) underwater gas pipeline transports the gas produced at Karan to the Khursaniyah gas processing plant.

The ULMA piping engineering team, this technological project involves an extremely high degree of synchronization with the engineering office in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

Furthermore, it highlights the RDI investment made by the co-operative in recent years, as otherwise it would have been impossible to form part of projects of this size and importance.
