ULMA Handling Systems already stated that "it is the era of Logistics 4.0" and the approach of this new era to digitalization in terms of productivity and growth is increasing the use of sensor-based integrated equipment, in manufacturing facilities and logistics equipment and infrastructures.

Cyber-physical systems (CPS) will monitor physical processes and make decentralised decisions, communicating and collaborating, with each other and with humans, through the Internet of Things (IoT). As a result, the reliability and quality assurance of such systems will be of vital importance in improving the reliability of developing systems.

Even so, uncertainty is intrinsic in cyber-physical systems (CPS) due to new interactions of embedded systems, network equipment, cloud and human infrastructures. As a result CPS have become predominant in critical domains and require the implementation of appropriate mechanisms to handle the uncertainty.

One way to ensure the correct implementation of these mechanisms is through automated and systematic model-based testing, a way of improving reliability.

For this reason, ULMA Handling Systems participates in the U-Test project, focusing on the reliability and testing of the behaviour of embedded intelligent systems (IoT) in situations of uncertainty, alongside important researchers and developers of industrial tools, including the technology centre IK4-Ikerlan.

The U-Test project aims to ensure that CPS are adequately tested under conditions of uncertainty using systematic and automated techniques such as model-based and search-based testing to ensure their correct operation in a real-world environment.
