The project for the La Florida Hospital in Santiago de Chile is a key milestone for ULMA and also for Chile, as this will be the country’s first fully automated hospital.

The project includes an automatic warehousing system with two ULMA horizontal carousels, a warehouse management system and a combined order picking service using Pick to Light Systems devices.

The logistics automation system will enable full management of drug traceability, from receipt at the hospital warehouse to patient delivery and consumption.

ULMA has also completed a project for SGA (IK Health), and logistics consultancy services for the Hospital Distribution Centre in the State of Concepción, to provide the Lota and Coronel Hospitals and the Víctor Manuel Fernandez Surgery with medicines and supplies from an external centre. This is the first time medicine and supplies storage and management for the different hospitals has been outsourced in Chile, making it a pioneer scheme.

Two more ULMA projects of interest are management of vertical automated order picking cabinets for the Cordillera Health Reference Centre and a project for the Chile Public Works Department involving both consultancy and participation in the drafting of data sheets for tenders in which they will later compete.

The projects undertaken for the Osorno, Los Ángeles, Valdivia and Gustavo Frick Hospitals in Chile are a further example of how ULMA is strengthening its presence in the healthcare sector. The company is developing a Pick to Light system at these hospitals, for integration with the vertical carousels to be managed by ULMA (IK Health).
