ULMA Foundation sponsors the Zuazola Institute in Oñati for the STARTInnova Entrepreneurship project

The ULMA Group has sponsored the participation of Oñati’s Zuazola Institute in the STARTInnova Entrepreneurship project, through the ULMA Foundation. Geared to 16- and 17-year-old Secondary School and Vocational Training students, START INNOVA aims to provide young people in Guipúzcoa with a new enterprise incentive scheme to encourage entrepreneurial spirit and action in the local area.

13 groups from 8 Guipúzcoa municipalities have taken part in the scheme, sponsored by the Basque Government and the University of the Basque Country and promoted by the newspaper El Diario Vasco. The StartInnova project consists of four parts - Entrepreneurial Learning, From Ideas to Projects, Develop your Project and Defend your Project - and the students’ work has involved practical exercises, self-assessment tests and online chats with experts in this field. The groups are tutored by a teacher from the centre who helps them understand the theory behind the project.

Two groups from the Zuazola Centre are taking part, in collaboration with the ULMA Foundation. In both cases the business idea is connected to promoting sport as the participants are Physical Education students.

The first group have founded the company Uralur, which will offer outdoor sporting activities such as climbing, trekking or canoeing. They specialise in services for the disabled, as they wish to make their scheme accessible to society as a whole.

The second group has created the company Izerdi, where each group member coaches one particular sport which is their speciality. They offer an array of activities such as athletics or handball, which despite being common sports are not always accessible to all.
