ULMA drainage channels in the Port of Naples, Italy

A complete piping system has been installed in the Port of Naples, incorporating technical channels (F900) with a 2.5% slope in polymer concrete, unique in the market.

Renovation works have been carried out in the Naples-based Port of Nuova Darsena Molo Vigliena, where, among other works, the drainage system has been modified in the areas of the piers. It has been a with a high technical level, as the main requirement was that the system enables the correct flow of the large amount of water from the docks. Low-lying channels were installed due to the restrictions in the pier. In total, approximately 1000 lineal meters of channels were installed.

Taking all these characteristics into account, an optimal solution was provided by installing ULMA channels of the F250 model with 2.5% continuous slope incorporated, making it possible to install channels that are not too high but are capable of flowing large amounts of water. These channels support extreme load classes, up to the F900, according to the EN-1433 standard. It should be noted that all ULMA products strictly comply with European quality standards.

ULMA is the only manufacturer with products in polymer concrete, with a real integrated slope of 2.5%, providing several advantages. Its marked unevenness increases the speed of the water, thus maximising the hydraulic capacity and facilitating the self-cleaning of the channel, that is, it obtains a greater drag capacity of the sediments that can accumulate during heavy rains. This leads to a reduction in the need for maintenance, thus minimising costs. It is a very suitable solution for areas where the land does not have a natural slope.
