Charity wins the first run organised by MUNDUKIDE

The MUNDUKIDE foundation organised its first charity run last Sunday in the unrivalled surroundings of the Urkulu (Aretxabaleta) reservoir on the occasion of its 15th anniversary and coinciding with International Co-operative Day.

Over 80 participants from surrounding co-ops joined the 'Batu taupadara! Join the beat!' initiative, adding their support to projects MUNDUKIDE is implementing in Mozambique, Brazil and Cuba, and driving the beating heart that “pumps out opportunity for a dignified life in the South” according to Mundukide Foundation Director, Josu Urrutia.

 

The 28 teams comprised of three co-op members each in the mixed, masculine and feminine categories had to reach the finish line as a group, underlining the importance of teamwork as a hallmark of the cooperative movement. The first three co-ops to reach the finish line where Lea Artibai Ikastetxea, in the masculine category, EROSKI in the feminine and ULMA CyE in the mixed category although the true winner was Charity, having brought everyone together to recognise and support the work of the MUNDUKIDE Foundation.
