Basque language takes to the road on the 23 September, from ULMA to ULMA along the Bidegorri (cycle lane)

ULMA has promoted different initiatives during the year as part of the "Bidegorriak euskararentzat" project, starting with its practical guidelines, followed by its languages questions and answers competition and ending with its murals that depict the commitments acquired with Basque language, and the work done at ULMA.

With a view to publicising its commitment to Basque language, in mid-September, different ULMA figures will approach the town’s schools where they will meet final year primary students and explain what ULMA is and what it is doing to standardise Basque language. And they would like to encourage students to join them on their route on Friday 23 September, departing from ULMA Architectural Solutions (Polymer), passing in front of all ULMA businesses and along the bidegorri (cycle lane) until Oñati Square.

Come down to the bidegorri on the 23 September! Take an interest in Basque language!

Schedule 23 September:

  • 16:30 ULMA workers, pensioners, final year primary students and anyone who wants to join us, on your bike with a helmet, skateboard, or by foot, running or however you can make it - we will all head along the bidegorri, from the Zubillaga roundabout to Oñati Square.
  • 18:30 Oñati Square, ULMA Basque Mural Exhibition. We will “plant” our trees and leaf shaped stickers will be available for anyone who wants to note down their commitment to Basque language.
  • 19:00 Music show with Amaia Txintxurreta DJ. Music and dancing for kids and adults at the square.

BASQUE IS A STRATEGIC LANGUAGE AT ULMA

ULMA's social responsibility includes a discourse of the linguistic ecology of the Bidegorriak euskararentzat project. As part of its commitment to its surroundings and its cooperative values, it clearly illustrates its commitment to promoting Basque culture and language. Therefore ULMA has made its contribution to Basque, as it forms part of it ecosystem, increasingly promoting the use of Basque in the workplace.

55 YEARS

To celebrate ULMA's 55th anniversary with the people of Oñati, the ULMA foundation has organised a concert that will also mark the end of the Bidegorriak euskararentzat project.

  • 22:00 At the Oñati Parish, concert by the group KALAKAN.

Musical group from northern Euskal Herria which adapts popular songs accompanied by percussion and voices. Their show is therefore based on popular songs sung in Basque, and we thought it would be a great gift for the people of Oñati.
